WarriorsBy Jack Shaeffer, with additional notes by Amber Wittlief Alterian Warriors"I'm sorry this has to be done, but you're standing between me and my mission." Alterian Warriors are the offensive soldiers for Altera Luna. They are trained predominantly in advanced combat, and know little useful magic. Most of the magic which is known by the Warriors is battle-oriented. Often, Warriors are trained also in basic healing and survival spells (such as flame based spells and general "let's-kill-things" spells.) The Warriors are neither good nor evil, they just do what needs to be done. Most Warriors possess strategic reasoning and a quick wit. These are also the most cunning of the Alterians. Most can persuade others to do things using their reasoning and various hypnotic suggestions. Their hearing and sense of smell is slightly better than that of other Alterians due to their training and reliance on these senses. They can move quickly and silently when they choose to. The first warrior vows are taken at the age of eight. After that, promotion is based on skill and personal devotion. All ceremonies and rites pertaining to Alterian Warriors occur at the Midwinter festival (The High Priest must be present in such cases). The Warriors are trained by Mithrans priests during the winter months, for one month every year, the Warriors train with the Scholars in the City of Eleven Lights. The Warrior vows are taken several times throughout their training. Upon reaching the level of Garneth, the first major ceremony takes place. At this point, the warrior is given a scar on their left hand. This is done by carving the symbol of the Alterian Empire into the back of the left hand. This wound is treated with Etbane, so that even this shallow marking becomes a very prominent, permanent scar. The principal city for the Warriors is the City of Nine Shadows, where they do most of their early training. The Warrior mentality is based heavily on the importance of combat and honor in combat. The main objectives for Alterian Warriors are to guard the royal family, and to protect the Scholars. An Alterian Warrior can be recognized easily by the warrior emblem which is normally required to be worn, and a raised scar on their right hand. The warrior uniform is not often worn and is reserved mostly for special occasions or social events. The color of robes varies depending on the level of the warrior (progressing from brown to green to blue). It is an ankle length robe with a large hood which can be used to cover part of the face. The warrior emblem is worn on the right side of the chest and is a cloisonn? emblem of a wolf against a blue-black background. The wolf symbolizes the wolf-like hierarchy of the Alterian Warriors.Warrior Code1) Finish the mission at all costs. 2) Take care of fellow Warriors 3) Keep your concentration at all times. 4) The Alterian Warriosare a hierachial group. Listen to your superiors. 5) You are a warrior. If you can't handle the burden, leave. 6) Act respectfully when not on a mission. 7) Do not think of what you are killing, but rather what you are allowing to live. 8) If you are caught, never talk. 9) A Warrior should guard the Scholars, as they are physically weaker, unless it risks the mission or other Warriors.RanksThe ranks begin with Magor as the lowest level and Draug as the highest.
