Modern History (7281 E.A.-7422 E.A)

The Beginning of the End

Emperr Daelin assumed the throne in 7281, and followed the ideals set by his father and grandfather. In the past thousand years, the Empire had been slowly letting up on Altera Proper and allowing it to import and export more, as well as giving them money to encourage their arts and culture. Alter Proper remained, despite the best efforts of all involved, only partially inhabitable. The majority of the land was unusable, though the areas near the water supplies had become beautiful centers of culture. The Alter Proper'ns never quite believed that the Scholars had honestly tried to repair their world. They became bitter, both at the control that Altera Luna kept over them, and by the fact that the Lunans were in an age of prosperity. Small bands of rebels became bigger organizations, and eventually this bitterness and hatred made its way into the government of Altera Luna.

The Overthrow of the Empire

The overthrow of the Thalion Emperr occured in 7422. It was during the midsummer festival, during which the young Prince Eidolon was to begin his Scholar training by taking his first oaths. Amber, his twin sister, had taken her Warrior vows the Midwinter festival previous. Mithros and all of his priests were at the Palace, as well as a large percentage of the Scholars and Warriors. At this time, the Proper'n forces stole into the castle and began killing the Imperial Guard with their advenced weaponry. As the Imperial Guard did not carry guns, many were killed. Only about a quarter of the Imperial Guard was able to escape. The Emperr was killed by the military leader, Sereg. Also killed were the eldest and youngest children, Prince Jacob (age 4) and Prince Lyas (Age 70). During the struggle, the Empres was able to rescue her daughter, Princess Amber, by sending her in a ship to one of their allied planets. (Please note: Due to an error in the ship's programming, the ship instead went to a world of thieves and murderers). The Empres was eventually killed by a shot to the back of her, right in front of her young daughter. Prince Eidolon was taken from the palace by Mithros, where he was hidden in from the attacking forces. Several men knew of his location, and captured Mithros' wife in an attempt to force him to give up the boy. Mithro's wife committed seppuku before they could issue the threat, and with her last magic, erased their knowledge of the prince's location.
