GeographyBy Jack Shaeffer and Amber Wittlief AlteraThe name "Altera" actually refers to two places: Altera Luna and Altera Proper. Altera Proper is a small to middle sized planet, orbiting it is the fertile moon of Altera Luna.Altera LunaAltera Luna is a beautiful fertile moon which is mostly comprised of oceans and has only 3 major landmasses. The three landmasses are (in order of size): Caran, Malen, Ihun. Most of the population resides on Caran, the center of culture. In the Northern Part of the continent lies the Temple of the High Priest. This is a small, ornate temple which is nestled in the Aeglir mountains. To the East, the City of Eleven Lights. The City of Eleven Lights is the home of the Scholars, and is filled with palaces, gardens, and libraries. In contrast, the Warrior's western City of Nine Shadows is comprised mostly of training halls and armories. In the center of this massive continent is the Palace of Altera, from which the entire empire was ruled during the Golden Age of the Alterian Empire. Altera Luna is currently under the opressive rule of a military group from Altera Proper. Many of the major cities have been ransacked or have entrance forbidden.Altera ProperAltera Proper is a bleak and cold world, with life centered only around the main water sources (which are few and far apart). It was once as fertile and beautiful as Altera Luna, but the planet was decimated in the War of Bloody Tears (43 EA-2307 EA). Altera Proper was never able to rebuild themselves, despite the help of Altera Luna during the peaceful Golden Age of the Alterian Empire. Altera Proper is mostly barren, arrid desert. There are four major water sources, around which all of the life of Altera Proper thrives. In these areas, life is pleasant for the Alteran Proper natives. The major cities are Banren and Etha. Altera Proper's industry is very military driven.BelceraphonThis planet is farther out than the other two habitable planets. It has a very harsh enviornment. Its few settlements consist mostly of small mining colonies.Encyclopedia |
